Ministry of Education plans to open the school’s sports

DILI, 26 August 2020 (TATOLI)– The Minister of Education Armindo Maia along with the Sport’s secretary, Abrão Saldanha, have held discussions the plan for the implementation of School Sports in Timor-Leste.

“We spoke about the preparation necessary for the development of a program to implement school’s sports,” Minister of Education Armindo Maia told Journalist at SEJD in Licidere.

This program will be included in the Ministry’s proposal of the State budget that will be discussed in the coming months.

Abrão Saldanha, the sports secretary said, first is to set a plan and program to establish this school activity.

“The activity which we have planned includes, basic sports, which will be apart of this school program,” he said.

He added that the government will also focus on the rehabilitation of infrastructure, especially the football fields, before starting this activity.

“we are not only having problems with the infrastructure but also human resources, and this has become a big issue that we will focus as well,” he said.
