DILI, 10 September 2020 (TATOLI)- Timor-Leste’s Ministry of the Interior and the Department of Migration Service has recorded that between January to September 2020 around 212 foreigners have committed visa violations.
The Director-General of Migration Services, Superintendent Agostinho Gomes, said that the operation service has identified, through investigation, the foreign citizens who have violated the laws of migration. These violations include the use of Tourist Visa’s to conduct professional activities for some companies.
Mr Gomes added that some of the foreigners have remained illegal, and some of them are illegally living in Timor-Leste due to not renewing expired visa’s. Some foreigners don’t have the required supporting documents.
“We are going through the process of dealing with these foreign citizens, mostly the violators come from Indonesia, China, Philippines and a few other nations as well,” Mr Gomes told Tatoli at his office, Caicoli Dili.
According to law, foreign citizens that commit these violations will be heavily fined.
