DÍLI, 26 october 2020 (TATOLI) – The Superior Council for Defense and Security (SCDS) and the State Council (SC) agreed with the extension of the State Emergency by another 30 days.
The agreement made after CSDS and EC met with the President of Republic, Francisco Guterres Lú Olo to discuss the Government’s proposal, which involves the extension of the State of Emergency.
The Head of the Military House of President of The Republic, Colonel António Soares da Silva “Mau Kalo” said, the two councils have agreed with the proposal, and decided that the President will send a letter to the National Parliament for its authorization.
He added, the letter will be forwarded to the president after the parliament discussion.
“The state of emergency is identical to the previous month. The focus will remain at entrance points such as the airport, port and land borders. At the same time the measures is also aims to prevent the movement of illegal entrances, including mandatory confinement in the various hotel units in the municipalities and in the capital of Dili, ”he revealed.
Mau Kalo confirmed, that the President of the Republic will send a letter to the National Parliament asking for the new approval for the state of emergency in Timor-Leste by 30 days to face covid-19.
“We do not yet have a vaccine to fight the covid-19 pandemic. New active cases have increased in some countries. The only way to avoid the disease is with the prevention,” he concluded.
