DÍLI, 30 october, 2020 (TATOLI) – TANE Konsumidór (TANE Consumer) has officially launched a website, http://tanekonsumidor.tl/, to provide the consumers a correct information about their rights and duties, allowing the complaints to be made in the non-compliance event according to the law and make news available regarding the activities of the association.
António Ramos da Silva ‘Naikoli’, the president of TANE Konsumidór, said that the site is available in three languages - Tetum, Portuguese and English.
Mr Naikoli said the website aimed at bringing the consumer closer to TANE association because majority of population in Timor-Leste uses the internet which is also will bring a great benefit to consumers across the territory, offering necessary information and becoming a space for presenting their concerns.
“This site receives the problems and the concerns from the consumers, and that will be mediated by TANE with the companies and institutions of the State. Thus, the association law will secure this online platform, a better service to clients.” António Ramos da Silva said at the launching ceremony this Friday (10/30) at Dili Cultural Center.
The Ambassador of European Union (EU) to Timor-Leste, Andrew Jacobs, has acknowledged the action of TANE for promoting the safety consumer.
Ambassador Jacob also highlighted the EU willingness to defend the promotion of knowledge about consumer rights and the guarantee of the application of laws, integrating them in the important sectoral policies.
“Our congratulations to TANE on the launch of this website, as it is important for Timorese consumers to protect their rights and improve their investment and consumption,” Mr Jacob said.
The EU financially supports TANE over a four-years period with a total of 700 thousand euros.
Likewise the Portugal’s Ambassador to Timor-Leste, José Pedro Machado Vieira, recognized the work of TANE and said he will continue to support training to the association to ensure and protect the rights of the entire consumers in Timor-Leste.
