DILI, 16 november 2020 (TATOLI)– The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Timor-Leste, Adaljiza Albertina Xavier Reis said, her office to send the United States President-Elect Joe Biden an official congratulations letter.
“A congratulations letter with the combined wishes from the President of the Republic and The Prime Minister, has been sent to the United States of America (USA)” said Minister Adaljiza Albertina Xavier Reis.
Currently, the Timor-Leste government has offered their congratulations to the President-Elect of the USA. This current congratulation is informal, and a formal congratulations will be given once the new President enters the white house in January 2021.
“We have offered informal congratulations via social media because the electoral commission is still running. The current USA president Trump has not conceded, thus, when it is officially declared that the President-Elect Joe Biden will take office, we will send a formal congratulation message,” Ms Magno said.
