SEPFOPE to send 162 workers to Australia

DÍLI, 25 november, 2020 (TATOLI) – The Secretary of State for Vocational Training and Employment (SEFOPE) to send 162 Timorese workers to Australia.

The National Director of Foreign Employment, Filomeno Soares, said that Executives from Australia had asked Timor-Leste to organise the process for sending the workers to Australia.

According to Mr Soares, this is the first reactivation since the beginning of the covid-19 pandemic.

“We want them to travel, but this will require a lot of preparation to respond to the requirements set from Australia,” Filomeno Soares said.

Mr Soares added among 162 workers, 30 will work in Burlington, 39 in Hillwood, 10 in Mountford and the remaining 83 will be in Tasmania.

“All the details about the workers are finalised, and our team is now dealing the deal the working visa. A few companies have begun initiating the contact to begin the writing contracts,” he said.

At this point, Mr Soares said SEPFOPE has been coordinating with the Ministry of Justice and Ministry of Transport and Communication to organise flights.

“The 162 workers will travel on December 2 this year, coming from 12 municipalities include Oé-Curse and Ambeno (RAEOA)” he said.
