Universities to celebrate in-person graduation commencement ceremonies  in 12-15 of January


DILI, 14 december 2020 (TATOLI) – This fall semester the Ministry of Education joined with colleges and other universities across the nation and made a way for students to be safe while  continue their education journey in-person, on their schools.

In spite of the covid-19, many activities resumed on the campus especially the fall 2020 graduation ceremony.

The National University of Timor Lorosa’e (UNTL) will celebrate its 2020 graduation ceremony for the Public Health and the Pharmacy students includes others departments with in-person commencement ceremonies spanning three days starting on Tuesday, January 12 to 15 of January 2021.

While 236 health students from the University of Peace/Universidade da Paz (UNPAZ) have also accomplished their student and waits for the graduation ceremony.

The December ceremony will include graduates from the 2020 spring, summer and fall terms.

“According to the annual calendar, graduation should take place in November and December. However, we made an adjustment due to COVID-19 concerns, ceremonies for our university will take place on the three designated days (January 12-15), ”The Pro-Rector for the UNTL, Miguel Maia, to  TATOLI agency, at UNTL, in Dili.

Maia said 300 finalists are expected to participate in the next UNTL graduation, and the list of the candidates must be sent to the Ministry of Education one month before the commencement.

It is recalled that, this year 2147 university students across three Universities in Timor-Leste will celebrate the end of their schooling with formals and graduations despite the global pandemic.

The total number of 2147 students  1.347 students from UNPAZ university, 500 students from UNTL and 300 students from IOB.

From the total number of students some have had completed their graduation ceremony last months and some will graduate in January next year.

The graduation candidates are from from the Department of Economics, Human Rights, Social Science, Public Health Department, Engineering and Technology Agriculture Department, Education Department, Philosophy, and Post-graduate programs.
