Australia extends financial support to SAMES

DILI, 15 december, 2020 (TATOLI) – The Australian Government extends financial support of US $ 300,000 to the Timor-Leste Medical Autonomous Service (SAMES) to allow the training for the pharmacists on how to use and control the medicine supply system which will be implemented throughout SAMES.

The Representative of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA, in English), Ronny Lindstrom, revealed that the launch of the system aims to assure the Government regarding the drugs acquisition, distribution and control of storage.

“It is an adequate system with a digital electronic platform that aims to deal with the lack of medicines,” said Ronny Lindstrom said.

Ronny Lindstrom also recalled that the system was created eight years ago.

“Pharmacists from the Ministry of Health already know this system, since it was already implemented in health centers last year. We reactivate it again through the support of the Government of Australia”, he said.

The Executive Director of SAMES, Santana Martins, said that the resettlement of the mSuplly program covers entire municipalities, including health centers.

Santana Martins added that SAMES will make every effort, between 2021 and 2022, to guarantee the installation of the system up to the health posts.

“The system aims to simplify our control for the management of the drugs stockings. The launch [of the mSuplly system] pays attention to health professionals and the pharmacists in the municipalities and the health centers”, he said.
