GPE Extends financial support to supply clean water for Basic schools in Timor Leste

DILI, 14 january, 2021 (TATOLI) – Global partnership development for education (GPE) offers $.200 thousand dollars to supply the clean water for 239 basic schools across the country.

General Director for basic school and recurrent teaching of Education Minister, youth and sport (MEJD), Apolinario Serpa Rosa said the GPE offers the support with the amount of USD 200 thousand to refill the clean water for the school tanks that have been provided by the Ministry of Education and the schools.

The budget for the water supply will be managed by United Nation Children Fund (UNICEF).

“Following the survey from the Ministry of Education, there have been 239 schools across the country have yet access to the clean water, thus the GPE is supporting the budget to store the water in every school,”Apolinario Serpa Rosa told Tatoli via phone.

The proposal is submitted from every school with different amount of budget requested for the supplying of clean water.

 “The budget is not directly transferred to school bank account, however every school has to provide the proposals forwarded to the Ministry of Education and  the Team will have to be verified and approved,” he said.
