DILI, 23 january 2021 (TATOLI) – Eleven Timorese have recently tested positive for COVID-19 after returning to the country from neighboring Indonesia, while three patients have recovered from the disease, the Coordinator of the COVID-19 team said in a statement on Saturday.
Ms Viegas said that the 11 infected – seven women and four men, between 22 and 64 years old – are currently in the Vera Cruz isolation center.
She said, the eleven patients were traveled from Indonesia to Atambua, and to Dili.
They arrived in Timor-Leste along with 107 people on jnuary 20, being quarantined in five hotel units indicated by the Government – Hotel Novo Horizonte, Hotel Leokase, YQ Hotel, Carla Mension and Time Square. While another nine people were self-quarantine at the Hotel Timor Resort and their residence at Bidau and Vila Verde.
The covid-19 surveillance team carried out the screening test to the patients on january 21, the results were confirmed positive on the following day.
The eleven positives were quarantined at Hotel Novo Horizonte, YQ, Time Square, Leokase and Carla Mension.
There have been the patients tested negative twice during their 14 days in managed isolation at Vera Cruz Dili. Thus they were able to leave the isolation.
Since January to date, Timor-Leste has recorded a total of 64 confirmed cases of COVID-19, with zero deaths and 50 recoveries, the MoH said.
