DILI, 5 february, 2021 (TATOLI) – The Ombudsman for Human Rights and Justice (PDHJ) and the Attorney General’s Office (PGR) signed a cooperation agreement with a view to strengthening institutional service within 2021 and 2024.
The agreement aims at strengthening the cooperation between both in institutional and the focus will be on the promotion of the defense of democratic legality, citizens’ rights and strengthening criminal action.
The agreement was signed by the Ombudsman for Human Rights and Justice, Jesuína Maria Ferreira, and by the Attorney General, José Ximenes, took place at the PGR building, in Colmera, Dili.
The Ombudsman for Human Rights and Justice highlighted the importance of agreement as it will make possible to enhance cooperation between the two institutions, contributing to the improvement of the justice service in Timor-Leste.
“Whenever the PDHJ receives a complaint regarding a suspected crime case, it can be forwarded to the Attorney General’s Office. The Ombudsman for Human Rights and Justice has an obligation to inform the suspects to cooperate with the PGRʺ, Jesuína Maria Ferreira, said in the Public Ministry building in Colmera.
Ms Ferreira revealed that technical training will be carried out for the employees assigned to two entities.
