DILI, 11 february, 2021 (TATOLI) – Timor-Leste and Portugal are committed to resuming the agreement signed in 2015 during the 4th Constitutional Government.
The statements highlighted by the Secretary of State for Youth and Sports (SEJD), Abrão Saldanha at meeting with the Ambassador of Portugal to Timor-Leste, José Pedro Machado Vieira
The Secretary of Sport, Abrão Saldanha said Timor-Leste and Portugal have yet to start the activities associated to the youth and sports in Timor-Leste, highlighted the areas of training, technical assistance, mobility and exchanges of people.
“I held a meeting with Ambassador Machado and we discuss about the cooperation deal signed in 2015 under the 4th Constitutional Government regarding the sports which was not implemented,” Abrão Salsinha said recently after the meeting with Ambassador Machado at his office residence.
According to Saldanha, the discussion is under way between the Government of Timor-Leste and Portugal to stablish sport cooperation plan outlined before the first agreement.
However, he said the most relevant and realistic aspects of the pandemic situation will be comprised the previous concluded agreement.
The Ambassador of Portugal, José Pedro Machado aforesaid Portugal commitment to work with Timor-Leste for the interest of young Timorese.
“We already have an instrument signed for both the youth and sports fields, within the scope of bilateral cooperation,” he said.
“It was a great achievement to have been welcomed by SEJD, where we were able to talk about the close connection between Portugal and Timor-Leste, a connection that stablish on a great friendship. However, it needs to be achieved through our friendly cooperation,” Ambassador Machado said.
