Indonesia gives concession to Timorese students with invalid documents until october this year

DILI, 02 february 2021 (TATOLI)—The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Adaljiza Albertina Xavier Reis, said, Indonesia Government has showed its commitment to provide the concession to Timorese students who are currently with invalid documents or whose documents are being expired.

“We have the discussion regarding the visa concession of Timorese students until october this year, the same things also implemented to the Indonesian Citizens in Timor-Leste whose documents are being expired,” She said.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said regarding the issue of the student’s documents, Minister Magno said, they have contacted with the Indonesian Government to assists all the Timoese students with invalid documents or expiry documents.

“We have communicated with Indonesian Government to assists our people, particularly Timorese students, for them not to be deported and also to continue stay in Indonesia until the borders are opened for them to process their visa,” She said.

Despite she said, she has not yet been receiving any report from Timor-Leste’s Ambassador and Attaches in Indonesia about the problem with students’ documents.

However, the Government has also communicated with Australia and England to give the concession to all Timorese who are residing in both countries with invalid document.

At the same Time, Ms Magno also requests to the Timorese who wish to return, to write the requests to the Government to provide the facilities.

Meanwhile for the students residing in Israel, the government has set the efforts to bring these students back to Timor-Leste starting from January to February but the decision was delayed due to the Government of Israel is imposing the sanitary ware in the country.
