CUAT provides food aid to people in Covalima municipality

DILI, 05 march 2021 (TATOLI)— The Chinese Merchants Union Association Timor-Leste (CUAT), has provided 1 ton 750 kg of rice for the people who have been affected by anti-coronavirus measures in the Covalima municipality.

The CUAT Representative’s, Laurence Su, said, the objective of the supports is to help the community in Covalima who are currently facing the lock down situation with the government imposing of sanitary fence.

“We from the Chinese Asociation in Timor-Leste (CUAT), express our solidarity to our friends in Covalima, who are currently being isolated, and due to coronavirus measures we can only offer the rice to local authorities to distribute,” Laurence Su said at the RENETIL hall.

He said that this support was provided because, it was based on information received from the authorities in Covalima that the community in Covalima needed food aid. “That’s why we decided to support them with rice,” he said.

He also added they are willing to support Covalima Community and will continue to support them in any time they need.

The Head of Covalima Municipality, Francisco de Andrade, thanked the CUAT for the support provided to in Covalima.

“We thanked for the support, because our community in Covalima is currently facing very difficult situation, and wish to received more supports from everyone ” he said.
