Corona virus update: eight more infections from Dili-Baucau-RAEOA

DILI, march 17 2021 (TATOLI) – The Health Authority confirmed eight more active cases of covid-19, six of which from Díli, one in Baucau and another in the Special Administrative Region of Oé-Cusse and Ambeno (RAEOA).

The authority also announced five recovery cases; thus, the country has recorded total of 216 infections since the beginning of the outbreak until today 107 are remining at the Hospital, while the total of 109 having been discharged from the Hospital.

The Coordinator of the Task Force for the Prevention and Mitigation of the Covid-19 Outbreak in Timor-Leste, Rui de Araújo, stated that, of the eight cases, four are men and four are women, aged 15 and the rest between 21 and 30 years.

“These patients are asymptomatic,” Araújo said, during the virtual conference at the Díli Convention Center.

Three cases were detected in area of 05, in Fatuhada village and are linked to one of those infected yesterday.

There is one more active case in area of São Miguel, a new cluster, in Comoro Juice, close contacts with patients from Aldeia 05. This infection is from a health professional from the HNGV of the Hemodialysis Unit, who works together with the infected announced yesterday.

There are also two cases in Aldeia Avança, in the Suco of Bairro Pité. The two infected are related to patients from the same outbreaks.

The active cases detected in Dili since March 7 have risen to 87 and there are already increased to 24 outbreaks.

Regarding the Municipality of Baucau, health teams detected one more active case. The infected, a student at the National University Timor Lorosa’e (UNTL), traveled to Baucau on March 8.

“Baucau registers seven cases in the two outbreaks,” he said.

The infection detected today in the RAEOA is a foreign citizen with a working visa.

“He performed a self-quarantine test for two weeks, tested positive and has already been transferred to the isolation center,” he said.

RAEOA has recorded a total of five active cases since the new outbreak of the virus.
