Timor-Leste reports 52 new coronavirus and 18 recoveries

DILI, april 26, 2021 (TATOLI) – Timor-Leste on Monday logged 52 new COVID-19 cases and 18 recoveries, the country’s CIGC said in a statement.

The new cases 49 mostly found in Capital Dili, and the other three were found in the Municipalities, thus the country currently has 1.050 active cases and 1.949 confirmed cases since the new outbreak begun in Timor-Leste. 

Regarding the active cases in the municipalities, two infections are registered in Baucau and one in Manufahi.

The Coordinator of the COVID-19 Crisis Center, Rui Araújo, said that, among the cases, 36 cases were detected following the traveling request. 

Araújo also stated that the majority of the cases detected in this group live in areas of outbreaks of contagion in the municipality of Dili.

Of all the infections announced today, 27 are men and 25 are women. All patients are asymptomatic.

Araújo also said that, since yesterday, the National Health Laboratory (LNS) has carried out 399 laboratory tests, 12 through in the context of sentinel surveillance, nine of contact screening, 65 of random screening, 220 requests to leave the Municipality of Dili, 42 for international travel and 51 in quarantine.

About the three cases of pediatrics, one is moderate and two are severe. Two patients use the continuous positive airway pressure mask (CPAP) and another breath with the help of an oxygen cannula.

Concerning the cases detected by municipality, since the emergence of the new coronavirus, Dili has 1,661, Baucau with 58, Ermera 41, Covalima 52, Viqueque 13, Liquiçá 14, Ainaro 15, Lautém 12, Bobonaro 16, Manatuto cinco, Manufahi 52, Aileu five and the Special Administrative Region of Oé-Cusse and Ambeno (RAEOA) register five.
