Timor-Leste reports 120 new coronavirus infections and 43 recoveries

DILI, 01 May 2021 (TATOLI)— Timor-Leste on Saturday confirmed 120 new COVID-19 cases and 43 more recoveries in the past 24 hours, the country’s Covid Crisis team said in a statement.

“Of the new cases, 116, were found in the capital Dili and four in other municipalities. Of the number 62 male and 58 female, 144 were symptomatic and the reset was asymptomatic,” The CIGC Coordinator, Rui de Araújo said in a statement. 

The Coordinator of the COVID-19 Crisis Center, Rui de Araújo said, among today’s cases, 51 (42,5%) were detected following requests for traveling authorization and have already made the trip.

Thus, the country currently has 1. 239.active infections, 2,276 confirmed cases and three deaths since the emergence of the new coronavirus.

Araújo also stated that the National Health Laboratory (LNS) carried out 1.169 laboratory tests, 70 of which in the context of sentinel surveillance, 147 for contact screening, 334 for random screening, 575 for requests for traveling, and 55 in quarantined.

He added that the Vera Cruz Isolation Center has now accommodated 28 patients of covid-19, including eight in the area of ​​obstetrics, 16 in internal medicine, and three in pediatrics.

The CIGC secretary Coordinator calls on people to strictly follow heath safety guidelines after the country imposed a lockdown in all territories for one month.

Timor-Leste began a COVID-19 inoculation drive on April 7. As of Saturday (01/05/021), about 28.678 out of the country’s 1,338,954 population had been vaccinated against the virus, following the report from the Ministry of Health.
