DILI, 06 May 2021 (TATOLI)- Timor-Leste reported 133 new coronavirus cases on Thursday, the nation’s second-highest daily total, said the CIGC in a statement.
There are now 1,414 coronavirus active cases in the country of over, 2,786 confirmed cases and 4 related deaths, according to the country’s Covid-19 crisis center, (CIGC).
The new infections – all community cases – 109 were found in Dili and 24 in other municipalities.
To curb a sudden surge of coronavirus cases, the government imposed a lockdown in the capital and other municipalities which will end on May 13.
The Coordinator of the Task Force for the Prevention and Mitigation of the Covig-19 Outbreak of the CIGC, Rui de Araújo, said, among the infections announced today, 74 are men and 59 are women.
“Among the cases detected today, the proportion of those infected with symptoms is 21.8%. The proportion of these cases increased from 8.8% to 15.1% in the last seven days, which shows that the trend of the covid-19 outbreak in Timor-Leste advances towards a model in which cases with symptoms predominate”, Araújo said in a statement.
Concerning municipality cases, Ainaro recorded three cases, Lautém two cases, Manatuto one case, and Baucau 18 cases.
Since yesterday, The National Health Laboratory (LNS) has performed 1,160 laboratory tests, of the number 32 were performed through the sentinel surveillance, 94 via contact screening, 571 through random screening, 459 were performed by request for traveling authorization, two for international trips while 432 tests were carried out in the municipalities.
According to Araújo, 29 patients are under the treatment at the Vera Cruz Isolation Center – seven in the area of obstetrics, 17 in internal medicine, four of whom are severe and 13 moderate, and five in pediatrics, one considered serious and four moderate.
