DILI, may 7, 2021 (TATOLI) – The Ministry of the Interior (MI) today issued a new order on the new opening time of the land border of Batugadé, in the municipality of Bobonaro, within the level 13th state of emergency.
It should be remembered that the state of emergency, now renewed, covers the entire national territory and is in force between 00:00 on May 3 and 23:59 on June 1.
The Director-General of the Customs Authority, José António Fátima Abílio, announced today that the Government will allow the entry and exit of people and goods through the land border of Batugadé once a week, between 9 am and 1 pm, and the departure will be made on Mondays and entry on Wednesdays.
“When agencies and companies intend to send goods across the land border, they will have to submit a request for prior authorization, to be approved by the Minister of the Interior and the Integrated Crisis Management Center (CIGC) in coordination with the teams present at the border, adding that the items will be disinfected by the Health Authority in the border before bringing inside the country,” said the Director-General Abílio at his office.
Concerning the entry of people across the land border, Mr. Abílio said that the authorization is the responsibility of the CIGC, as well as the entry of essential goods.
He also recalled that, when the Batugadé border was open, approximately 40 freight vans were registered, with the approval of the authorization request being handled by the MI and the CIGC.
“The vans could enter Timor-Leste, but we changed the drivers and the helpers,” he said.
