ILI, 03 may 2021 (TATOLI)— Timor-Leste on Monday reports133 new COVID-19 cases and 129 more recoveries, bring the total active infections to 1,727. The Country’s COVID-19 Crisis Center said in a statement.
“The new cases included 117 in capital Dili and 16 cases in other municipalities the statement said, adding that the cases confirmed today including 67 mele and 66 females,” The Coordinator of the Covid-19 Crisis Center, Rui Maria de Araújo said, in a statement.
Dili National Health Laboratory (LNS) carried out 966 laboratory tests, seven of which were identified through the sentinel surveillance tests, 103 of contact screening, 270 through random screening, 559 were performed through the requests for traveling authorization, 27 from quarantines. While 506 tests were also carried out in the municipalities on may 11.
Since the start of the pandemic, the country has officially registered a total of 3,626 confirmed COVID-19 cases with five deaths, the CIGC said.
Timor-Leste began an anti-COVID-19 inoculation drive on April 7. As of Saturday (01/05/021), about 28.678 out of the country’s 1,338,954 population had been vaccinated against the virus, following the report from the Ministry of Health.
Likewise on may Monday (10/05/021) the Timor-Leste Ministry of Health launched the second phase of the AstraZeneca vaccination campaign with the 20 thousand doses coming from Australia, giving priority to the population over 60 and people with comorbidities.
At the same time, The CIGC also continue to reiterate its appeal to the entire populations in Dili, Baucau, and Viqueque as well as other municipalities maintain to remain calm and ensure that they comply with covid-19 protocol, by washing their hands with soap, check their temperature and maintain physical distance.
