DILI, 04 june 2021 (TATOLI) – The Integrated Crisis Management Center (ICMC) today registered 89 new Covid-19 cases, 167 recoveries, and 1 death.

“Today ICGC records 89 Covid-19 cases, which made up of 43 male and 46 female and only 5.6 percent of these cases are symptomatic, while the rest are asymptomatic,” ICMC Coordinator, Dr. Rui Maria de Araujo said at Dili Convention Center, today.

Dr. Araujo said among the news cases, 22 were detected in the Dili municipality, including 8 in Baucau, 4 in Bobonaro, 9 in Covalima, and 1 in Viqueque municipality.

He informed that of all new cases, the majority were between the age of 12 and 59, including three children under the age of 12 and six elderly individuals over 60.

The ICMC also today recorded another death from Covid-19 from Vera Cruz Isolation Center.

Dr. Araujo said the decease was a 48-year-old man from Maliana-Bobonaro, who had been hospitalized at Vera Cruz Isolation Center since May 27 after being diagnosed with severe Covid-19. Apart from Covid-19, the man also had underlying health conditions – diabetes and hypertension, adding he died of respiratory failure this morning.

In the last 24 hours, The National Health Laboratory (LNS) has performed 983 PCR tests, including 15 sentinel surveillance tests, 63 through contact tracing, 91 via random screening, 771 were carried out following the request for travel authorization out of capital Dili, 32 for the international travel authorization, and 28 in quarantines.

The health authorities kept urging the communities to strictly obey and practice the health and safety guidance that had been implemented since the country imposed a lockdown in Dili and other municipalities.

Timor-Leste has so far registered a total of 7511 confirmed Covid-19 cases, with 17 deaths and 4993 recoveries since the beginning of the outbreak of the pandemic in the country.
