Global Fund offers Aid $1.169.591 for Timor-Leste

DILI, 09 june 2021 (TATOLI) – Global Fund COVID-19 respond mechanism supports Timor-Leste with the amount of $.1.169.591 to respond for the emergency mitigation and further spread of the virus.

“CCM-TL submitted the Fast-Tract Funding request to Global Fund on 21 may, and the financial approval was done on 8 of june. The fund is used for the COVID-19 equipment expenditures including the GeneExpert machine to examine the PCR results for covid-19 disease. The fund is also spent for Covid-19 protection equipment and used for national laboratory equipment maintenance,” The Global Fund Vice President of Country Coordination Mechanism (CCM-TL), Filipe da Costa said in a statement released on wednesday.

He added the fund is given to Timor-Leste government as a respond pf covid-19 mechanism to the proposal of Fast-Tract funding request. It is also to use for the emergency needed for covid-19 personal protection equipment including to purchase the personal protection equipment.

“We have informed to the Minister of Health for the approval of the financial about of $.1.169.591. The MoH should provide for the expenditure budget to purchase covid-19 emergency equipment. To ensure laboratory capacity to conduct PCR test,” Global Fund vice president, Filipe da costa said

Global Fund Administrator, Noe Gaspar Pinto da Silva said Global Fund is approved the fund for Fast- Tract Funding request with the amount of $.1.169.591. Minister of Health on execution division of global fund provide emergency respond of the budget.

“We have expensed through online on website of wambo.org on respond for emergency needs of covid-19 equipment. It is included of GeneExpert for the test to examine for emergency PCR COVID-19 result, covid-19 personal protection and national laboratory equipment,” He said

Noe affirmed the fund expenses is categorized for fast-tract and the fund will be expensed by Minister of Health between June and july, since yesterday the fund equitation was processing on online portal. All materials will arrive in Timor-Leste on july.

Timor-Leste government is partnership with Global Fund since 2003 to combat against HIV/SIDA, TB and Malaria diseases in Timor-Leste.
