COVID-19 Update: ICGC registers 140 news infections, 190 recoveries, and active cases at 1,748

DILI, 10 june 2021 (TATOLI) – The Health Authority today reported 140 new cases of COVID-19, and 190 recoveries, and the active cases were 1,748.

Among these 140 new cases, 100 were detected in capital Dili, while the rest were detected in the municipalities, including 17 in Baucau, 2 Bobonaro, 1 in Covalima, 9 in Lautem, and 11 in Viqueque municipality.

He informed that of all new cases, the majority were between the age of 12 and 59, including a child under the age of 12 and nine elderly individuals over 60.

The spokesperson of ICGC, Dr. Rui Maria de Araujo said that of the 140 cases, only 4.2 percent were symptomatic.

Araujo added that 20 patients were under treatment at Vera Cruz Isolation Center and four patients were in critical condition.

Since yesterday, the National Health Laboratory (LNS) has carried out 1005 PCR tests, including 16 sentinel surveillance tests, 13 through contact tracing, 239 via random screening, 729 were carried out following the request for travel authorization out of capital Dili, 5 for the international travel authorization, and 3 in quarantines.

Regarding the evolution of the COVID-19 in Timor-Leste, the incidence rate of coronavirus is, on average, in the last week, of 7.2 per 100 thousand inhabitants, while in Dili of 19.9, Baucau 7.9 and Viquque 5.2.

Dili was the only place with the highest number of COVID-19 cases.

The health authorities kept calling on the communities in capital Dili and municipalities to strictly obey and practice the health and safety guidance that had been implemented since the country imposed a lockdown in Dili and other municipalities.

There have been 8113 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Timor-Leste, while 18 people have now died, and 6347 recoveries.
