DILI, 23 june 2021 (TATOLI)- The Philippines government will cooperate with the Timor-Leste Government to conduct flight routes from the Philippines to Timor-Leste.
“The Embassy has submitted this plan to the Ministry of Transport and Communication in 2019 but it has been postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic but we will continue this program after COVID-19 ends,” said Consul & Third Secretary of the Philippines Embassy Atty. Laser Blitz B. Sumagaysay told TATOLI News Agency reporters at the Philippine Embassy, Farol on wednesday.
He explained that this commercial flight was done with the reason that many Filipinos live in Timor-Leste and also many East Timorese students who want to continue their studies in the Philippines because studying in the Philippines is cheaper than other countries.
“The Philippines government has lobbied commercial airlines to fly from Manila to Dili and there have been several
airlines from the Philippines who are willing, therefore the Philippines Government through the Philippines Embassy in Timor-Leste has prepared a Memorandum of Understanding together with the Ministry of Transportation and Communication to be jointly signed in 2020 ago but due to the COVID-19 pandemic this plan has been postponed,” He said.
Although this plan has been postponed, the Philippine Embassy will follow up this plan in the near future to realize it.
The Philippines – Timor-Leste flight route will be very profitable for passengers because the ticket costs will be very cheap and the economy of Timor-Leste will also improve in the future through the flight taxes.
