DILI, 30 june 2021 (TATOLI) –Timor-Leste receives 65.000 doses of AstraZeneca (AZ) from Australia. Therefore, those AZ aid arrived in Timor-Leste, today, via Qantas Spirit of Australia Flight at Nicolau Lobato International Airport Comoro on wednesday.
Although the AZ vaccine has a quantity of 65.000 doses, there is no ceremonial agenda.
Previously, the Australian Ambassador to Timor-Leste, Peter Robert, said Australia was committed to helping Timor-Leste together in dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic because Timor-Leste is a neighboring country that has maintained close bilateral relations since Timor-Leste’s independence until now. “Australia wants all Timorese to be vaccinated up to 80% of the existing Timorese people”.
Because of that Australia has always been committed to help Timor-Leste in preventing COVID-19 in Timor-Leste.
Besides that, Timor-Leste’s Minister of Health, Odete Maria Freitas Belo, previously said that AZ vaccine aid from Australia would arrive in Timor-Leste and today it has arrived in Timor-Leste.
“AZ vaccine with a quantity of 65.000 doses will be distributed to all districts to vaccinate the population in districts except Dili, therefore we are not holding a ceremonial ceremony at the Nicolau Lobato International Airport in Comoro Dili, but we are holding a ceremony on 8 jully,” said the Minister of Health, Freitas which Journalist TATOLI News Agency access on wednesday.
On this occasion, Freitas, on behalf of the government of Timor-Leste, would like to express his deep gratitude to the Australian Government which has always helped Timor-Leste in various aspects such as health, education and other aspects.
We hope that this collaboration will continue to work together in handling Covid-19 in Timor-Leste in building a better Timor-Leste in the future.
