DILI, 01 july 2021 (TATOLI)- Plan International has been a permanent donor of AHDMTL since 2016, said Director of the Association of the Blind in Timor-Leste (AHDMTL).

“Every year Plan International donates $14.000 to run the Self Help Group program,” revealed Afonso to Journalist of TATOLI News Agency at the AHMDTL Manleuana Office, Dili on thursday.

Afonso explained that the Self Help group program has been running since 2016 and nearly 5.000 disabled people have benefitted from this program.
This program consists of keeping fish, chickens, goats, growing vegetables and other small businesses.
In 2020 ago, Self Help Group has formed 10 business groups in Aileu, all of them are disabled people, their activities are business oriented such as growing vegetables, opening kiosks and other business activities with the aim of diversifying the economy and the results have been sold to the public who need it.
All activities of the Self Help group program are facilitated by AHDMTL from Plan International funds.
“On behalf of AHDMTL, I would like to express my deep gratitude to Plan International which has always supported funding for the Self Help Group program, AHMDTL wants the program to be continued in other districts because there are many disabled people who have not benefitted from this program,” said Afonso.
