COVID-19 update: Timor-Leste registers 51 new cases, 33 recoveries and active cases at 915

DILI, 04 july 2021 (TATOLI) – Timor-Leste, today, records 51 new cases of COVID-19, with 33 recoveries, and the active cases were 915.

Of the new cases, 35 cases were detected in capital Dili, while the rest were identified in the municipalities, including 14 in Baucau and 2in Ainaro municipality.

The spokesperson of CIGC, Dr. Rui Maria de Araujo said that of the 51 new cases, only 7.8 percent were symptomatic.

He said of today cases, 48 were between the ages of 12 and 59, including a child under 12 and 2 elderly persons over 60. These new cases are made up of 30 men and 21 women.

Araujo informed that 18 patients were under intensive treatment at Vera Cruz Isolation Center, where 2 patients were in critical condition.

In the last 24 hours, the National Health Laboratory (LNS) has performed 523 PCR tests, including 7 sentinel surveillance tests, 13 through contact tracing, 26 via random screening, 439 were carried out following the request for travel authorization out of capital Dili, 4 for the international travel authorization, and 34 in quarantines.

The evolution of the COVID-19 in Timor-Leste, the incidence rate of coronavirus is, on average, in the last week, of 4.8 per 100 thousand inhabitants, while in Dili 10.0, Baucau 8.9, and Ermera 6.3.

The CIGC reiterated its call on communities to practice the health and safety guidelines recommended by the Ministry of Health and the WHO to continue combating the spread of the virus in the country despite the ICGC’s records showing a slight drop in cases over the past week in the capital Dili and some municipalities.

There has been a total of 9.476 lab-confirmed cases of the virus in Timor-Leste, with 8.537 recoveries, active cases were 915 and 24 deaths, according to data of the CIGC.

In Timor-Leste, of the 754.864 eligible groups, 212.000 had received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.  Of the number, around 26.171 have also received their second dose of the vaccine.
