DILI, 05 july 2021 (TATOLI) – Timor-Leste, today, records 36 new cases of COVID-19, with 25 recoveries, 1 death and the active cases were 925.
Of the new cases, 24 cases were detected in capital Dili, while the rest were identified in the municipalities, including 7 in Baucau and 3 in Viqueque, and 1 each Ermera and Manatuto municipality.
The spokesperson of CIGC, Dr. Rui Maria de Araujo said that of the 36 new cases, only 22.2 percent were symptomatic.
He said of today cases, majority were between the ages of 12 and 59. These new cases are made up of 21 men and 15 women.
Araujo informed that 19 patients were under intensive treatment at Vera Cruz Isolation Center, where one patient was in critical condition.
He said the CIGC also today recorded another death from Covid-19 in the capital Dili.
Araujo informed that the deceased was a 17-year-old girl from Dili Municipality. After being diagnosed with Covid-19 on june 16, she was transferred to Vera Cruz Isolation Center for an intensive treatment. During 18 days of intensive treatment, her health condition was getting worst every time and died yesterday at around 4:50 local time due to multiple organ failure.
In the last 24 hours, the National Health Laboratory (LNS) has performed 441 PCR tests, including 8 sentinel surveillance tests, 9 through contact tracing, 87 via random screening, 315 were carried out following the request for travel authorization out of capital Dili, 21 for the international travel authorization, and 1 in quarantines.
The evolution of the COVID-19 in Timor-Leste, the incidence rate of coronavirus is, on average, in the last week, of 5.0 per 100 thousand inhabitants, while in Dili 10.5, Baucau 9.2, and Ermera 6.4.
The CIGC reiterated its call on communities to practice the health and safety guidelines recommended by the Ministry of Health and the WHO to continue combating the spread of the virus in the country despite the ICGC’s records showing a slight drop in cases over the past week in the capital Dili and some municipalities.
There has been a total of 9.512 lab-confirmed cases of the virus in Timor-Leste, with 8.562 recoveries, active cases were 925 and 25 deaths, according to data of the CIGC.
In Timor-Leste, of the 754.864 eligible groups, 213.032 had received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. Of the number, around 26.180 have also received their second dose of the vaccine.
