DILI, 06 july 2021 (TATOLI) – Timor-Leste, today, records 46 new cases of COVID-19, with 29 recoveries, and the active cases were 942.
Of the new cases, 31 cases were detected in capital Dili, while the rest were identified in the municipalities, including 9 in Viqueque, 4 in Baucau, and 1 each in Ermera and Covalima municipality.
The spokesperson of CIGC, Dr. Rui Maria de Araujo said that of the 46 new cases, only 2.1 percent were symptomatic.
He said of today’s cases, the majority were between the ages of 12 and 59 and an elderly person over 60. These new cases are made up of 29 men and 17 women.
Araujo informed that 19 patients were under intensive treatment at Vera Cruz Isolation Center, where one patient was in critical condition.
Since yesterday, the National Health Laboratory (LNS) has performed 870 PCR tests, including 1 sentinel surveillance test, 7 through contact tracing, 60 via random screening, 689 were carried out following the request for travel authorization out of capital Dili, 52 for the international travel authorization, and 61 in quarantines.
The evolution of the COVID-19 in Timor-Leste, the incidence rate of coronavirus is, on average, in the last week, of 4.8 per 100 thousand inhabitants, while in Dili 10.1, Baucau 8.3, and Ermera 6.4.
The CIGC reiterated its call on communities to practice the health and safety guidelines recommended by the Ministry of Health and the WHO, saying it is important for everyone to keep combating the spread of the virus in the country by obeying public health and social measures. Despite the country has been recording a relatively lower number of COVID-19 infections currently, in the capital Dili and some municipalities.
There has been a total of 9.558 lab-confirmed cases of the virus in Timor-Leste, with 8.591 recoveries, active cases were 942 and 25 deaths, according to data of the CIGC.
In Timor-Leste, of the 754.864 eligible groups, 215.302 had received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. Of the number, around 26.267 have also received their second dose of the vaccine.
