DILI, 16 july 2021 (TATOLI) – The President of the Republic Francisco Guterres ‘Lú Olo’ called on public officials to set a good example for the public.

Lú Olo said with the commemoration of the 7th anniversary of the CFP, enhancing the work of the public officials was important to better serve the people in a more ethical way and professionally,” Lú Olo made the comments at the commemoration of the 7th anniversary of the CFP, in Dili, on Thursday.

He said the COVID-19 and Calamity pushed the public officials to provide essential services at an optimal level.

Lú Olo affirmed that the pandemic had affected millions across the world, including Timor-Leste, saying, therefore, every citizen must play a role in fighting the coronavirus.

“However, the public officials must set a positive example for the public. It means that you need to give the right messages to the communities so that they can protect themselves from the Covid-19,” said Lú Olo.

“It is important for each and every public official to spread the right information to the communities that Covid-19 vaccines are the only way to combat the coronavirus.”

Lú Olo said public officials must set a good example by receiving the COVID-19 vaccine shots, in order to convince others to follow.

“Now, our priority is to strengthen our public health system to end the COVID-19 in the country,” he said.

Lú Olo called on all citizens, public officials, front-line health workers, to take part in the fight against the COVID-19.

For ten days, the Ministry of Health organized several activities to promote the health and well-being of public servants, so that they can improve their work performance and public services to be a good example for each family and for all population.

“To restore and return the situation of the people back to normal and accelerate the sustainable development of the nation. Thus, the COVID-19 vaccines are the only way to lead us to reach there,” Lú Olo added.
