COVID-19 update: Timor-Leste registers 51 new cases, 33 recoveries and active cases at 915

DILI, 19 july 2021 (TATOLI) – Timor-Leste, today, records 14 new cases of COVID-19, with 30 recoveries, and the active cases were 766.

Of the new cases, 11 cases were detected in capital Dili, while the rest were identified in Viqueque municipality.

The spokesperson of CIGC, Dr. Rui Maria de Araujo said that all of today’s cases showed no symptoms.

He said of today’s cases, 13 were between the ages of 12 and 59, including an elderly person over 60. These new cases are made up of nine men and five women.

Araujo informed that 11 patients were under intensive treatment at Vera Cruz Isolation Center, where two patients were in critical condition.

In the last 24 hours, the National Health Laboratory (LNS) has performed 298 PCR tests, including 16 through contact tracing, one via random screening, 159 were carried out following the request for travel authorization out of capital Dili, 84 for the international travel authorization, and 38 in quarantines.

The evolution of the COVID-19 in Timor-Leste, the incidence rate of coronavirus is, on average, in the last week, of 3.0 per 100 thousand inhabitants, while in Dili 7.4, Baucau 5.2, and Ermera 2.7.

The CIGC reiterated its call on communities to practice the health and safety guidelines recommended by the Ministry of Health and the WHO to continue combating the spread of the virus in the country despite the ICGC’s records showing a slight drop in cases over the past week in the capital Dili and some municipalities.

There has been a total of 10.142 lab-confirmed cases of the virus in Timor-Leste, with 9.350 recoveries, active cases were 766 and 26 deaths, according to data of the CIGC.

In Timor-Leste, of the 754.864 eligible groups, 250.644 (33.2%) had received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.  Of the number, around 56.627 (7.5%) have also received their second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
