COVID-19 update: Timor-Leste registers 32 new cases, 40 recoveries and active cases at 758

DILI, 20 july 2021 (TATOLI) – Timor-Leste, today, records 32 new cases of COVID-19, with 40 recoveries, and the active cases were 758.

Of the new cases, 17 cases were detected in capital Dili, while the rest were identified in the municipalities, including 13 in Viqueque, and one each in Baucau and Ermera.

The spokesperson of CIGC, Dr. Rui Maria de Araujo said that of the 32 new cases, only 3.1 percent were symptomatic.

He said the majority of today’s cases were between the ages of 12 and 59, including two elderly persons over 60. These new cases are made up of 19 men and 13 women.

Araujo informed that 11 patients were under intensive treatment at Vera Cruz Isolation Center, where two patients were in critical condition.

In the last 24 hours, the National Health Laboratory (LNS) has performed 730 PCR tests, including nine sentinel surveillance tests, 47 through contact tracing, 52 via random screening, 394 were carried out following the request for travel authorization out of capital Dili, 212 for the international travel authorization, and 16 in quarantines.

The evolution of the COVID-19 in Timor-Leste, the incidence rate of coronavirus is, on average, in the last week, of 3.0 per 100 thousand inhabitants, while in Dili 6.8, and Baucau 4.7.

The CIGC reiterated its call on communities to practice the health and safety guidelines recommended by the Ministry of Health and the WHO to continue combating the spread of the virus in the country despite the ICGC’s records showing a slight drop in cases over the past week in the capital Dili and some municipalities.

There has been a total of 10.174 lab-confirmed cases of the virus in Timor-Leste, with 9.390 recoveries, active cases were 758 and 26 deaths, according to data of the CIGC.

In Timor-Leste, of the 754.864 eligible groups, 252.133 (33.4%) had received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.  Of the number, around 61.660 (8.17%) have also received their second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
