MOP prepares 44 road rehabilitation tenders

DILI, 21 july 2021 (TATOLI) – Currently the ministry has prepared 44 tenders for road rehabilitation in Timor-Leste, revealed Minister of Public Works (MOP), Salvador Eugénio Soares dos Reis Pires.

“Currently there are 44 projects that have been designated for road repair (rural) and now it’s on the administrative process,” said Pires in Palace government to Journalist of TATOLI News Agency on wednesday.

He added, previously the ministry had prepared infrastructure for 65 packages, but currently only 44 packages are being continued by the tender process which will rehabilitate 340 kilometers of roads in territorial of Timor-Leste in this year.

“The administrative process is ongoing, we also have to look at the procurement law, and also evaluate the tender. After we get the winning bidder we will deploy it for the road rehabilitation process, including in rural areas around 340 kilometers across the region,” he said.

In the different place Director of Luta Hamutuk, José Alves da Costa said MOP must be careful in choosing the winner because later it will also affect the quality of road construction.

“Many projects are currently running, in this year but to construct the infrastructure and roads, we must ensure a good quality,” said Costa.

He also understands that the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic has hampered all work processes in all agencies so that some projects cannot be completed within the allocated time.
