DILI, 19 august 2021 (TATOLI) – Timor-Leste, today, reports another death, 278 new cases, 55 recoveries, and the active cases were 2.729.
Of the new cases, 185 were detected in Dili, while the rest were identified in the municipalities, including 41 in Manufahi, 21 in RAEOA, 18 in Liquica, eight in Manatuto, four in Bobonaro, and one in Viqueque.
The spokesperson of SIJK, Dr. Rui Maria de Araujo said of today’s cases, 50.4 percent were symptomatic.
He said of today’s cases, 215 were between the ages of 12 and 59, including 55 cases under 20 and eight elderly persons over 60. These new cases are made up of 146 men and 132 women.
Araujo informed that there are currently 60 Covid-19 cases that had been admitted to Vera Cruz Isolation Center, with 17 people in critical condition, one of whom required ventilation.
In the last 24 hours, the National Health Laboratory (LNS) has performed 866 PCR tests, including 44 sentinel surveillance tests, 427 through contact tracing, 99 via random screening, 262 were carried out following the request for travel authorization out of capital Dili, and 34 in quarantines.
Today, SIJK registered another death in Timor-Leste.
The deceased was a man in his 40s, who was diagnosed with Covid-19 in Ermera municipality and being transferred to the Vera Cruz Isolation Center (VCIC) on august 5. He passed away last night due to multiple organ failures.
The evolution of the COVID-19 in Timor-Leste, the incidence rate of coronavirus is, on average, in the last week, of 14.9 per 100 thousand inhabitants, while in Dili 36.8, RAEOA 15.5, Manufahi 14.3, Covalima 9.7, Ermera 8.8, Liquica 8.4, and Aileu 5.0.
The SIJK kept calling on communities to practice the health and safety guidelines recommended by the Ministry of Health and the WHO to continue combating the spread of the virus as the SIJK’s records showed cases are again mounted in Dili, Ermera, and several municipalities.
Health authorities warned that the Delta variant may have spread to other municipalities, where cases are spiked recently.
There has been a total of 13.433 lab-confirmed cases of the virus in Timor-Leste, with 10.663 recoveries, active cases were 2.729 and 41 deaths, according to SIJK’s data.
In Timor-Leste, of the 754.864 eligible groups, 46.9 percent had received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, of which 20.1 percent have also received their second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
