Covid-19 Update: TL records 11 new cases, 12 recoveries

DILI, 18 october 2021 (TATOLI) – In the past 24 hours, Timor-Leste recorded 11 new COVID-19 cases, 12 recoveries, and the active cases drop to 98, said Rui Maria de Araujo, the Coordinator of the Integrated Crisis Management Center (SIJK).

According to today’s figure, five of the new cases were detected in Bobonaro, two each in Covalima and Dili and one each in Lautem and RAEOA.

Araujo said 63.3 percent of today’s cases were symptomatic, adding of the 11 cases, four are fully vaccinated citizens, and 18 percent had received at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine.

Six of the new cases were between the ages of 12 and 59, including three cases under 20 and two elderly persons over 60. These 11 new cases include seven men and four women.

There are 10 people with COVID-19 in hospital and two of those are in critical condition, with a patient on a ventilator.

In the past 24 hours, the National Health Laboratory (LNS) has performed145 PCR tests, including eight through random screening, five for the international travel authorization, and 32 in quarantines.

The SIJK kept calling on communities to practice the health and safety guidelines recommended by the Ministry of Health (MoH) and the WHO to continue combating the spread of the virus.

Since Timor-Leste’s outbreak began in April 2020, the country has recorded 19.725 cases, 19.508 recoveries, and 119 deaths.

In Timor-Leste, of the 754.864 eligible groups, 67.6 percent had received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, of which 43.2 percent have been fully vaccinated.
