The U.S provides 54,000 USD for concession training to young Timorese

DILI, 4 november, 2021 (TATOLI) –The United States (U.S) Embassy awarded $54,000 to the United Nations Children Emergency Fund (UNICEF) in coordination with the Minister of Education, Youth, and Sport (MoEYS)to manage the concession training for Timorese young teenage in Timor-Leste.

The U.S Charge affair, Tom Daley said, this program in partnership with UNICEF to provide concession training composed of Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Art, Information and Technology: “The fund will help future leaders to develop skills to access for the 21st-century economic system. The US makes US$54.000 thousand available,” 

the program is a pilot program for young teenagers in Timor-Leste however Dili will be the first place to be implemented. 

He added that this training aims to provide opportunities for young people with learning quality and will promote their entrepreneurial skills. 

“It is part of U.S and Timor-Leste government cooperation on improving the economic situation,” Delay informed the media at the UN Headquarter Caicoli Dili.

At the same place, The Representative of UNICEF in Timor-Leste, Bilal Durrani, guarantees that the fund will be used for training in coordination with the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports.

The training program will be implemented in DILI and expand to other municipalities.

“The 21st-century project achieves co-activity, innovation, problem-solving competence, decision, information literacy, communication and technology, career, citizenship, personal and social responsibility”, Mr. Durani said.

UNICEF volunteer Rotario Delgado da Silva also said that the program has the participation of volunteers from UNICEF, the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports (MoEYS), the University of Brazil (INSPER), and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

“We also developed the training module. We will start the activity in the Municipality of Dili”, he concluded.
