PC recommends the Government to place correspondence journalists in ASEAN

DILI, 09 november 2021 ( TATOLI)- The President of Press Council (PC), Virgilio Guterres “Lamukan” recommended the Government’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation (MoFAC) to place the Timor – Leste correspondence journalists to ASEAN to write a news about Timor-Leste process of accession to ASEAN.

“Timor-Leste’s accession to become a member of the Association of Southeast Asia Nation (ASEAN) was not only carried out by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation (MoFAC) but it is also including all the parties including Timor-Leste ‘s journalists,” Lamukan told reporters in the MoFAC ‘s office, Pantai Kelapa, Dili, today.

Lamukan realizes that Timor-Leste has yet to put the correspondence journalists in several countries including ASEAN however there is a limited budget.

Lamukan suggested the Government choose the correspondence journalist from the State Media Institution including TATOLI new Agency and Radio Television of Timor-Leste (RTTL) to cover the news about ASEAN.

To answer for the recommendation from the PC, The Director of ASEAN Affairs in MoFAC, Milena Rangel said she will present the recommendation to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation to take into consideration.
