DILI, 16 november, 2021 (TATOLI)- Germany International Organization (GIZ) through Ai Ba Future Agro-forestry sustainable program has offered direct and indirect benefit to farmers in four municipalities, Manatuto, Baucau, Viqueqe, and Lautem.
The Ai Ba Futuru Technical Advisor, Sérgio Barreto said, The Benefits of this program is increasing the productivity of forests through sustainability of aggro-forestry, Providing training capacity for people engaging with aggro-forestry, Value Chain focus on agriculture and horticulture products to be able liking to local, national and regional markets, Reinforcement institutional framework and organizational for agroforestry which focuses on participatory land utilization planning, which has finalized in seven villages, currently implementing this project in 32 villages.
“On this program output we are also focused on strategy plan of agro-florets,” Barreto told Tatoli during the interview at his office in Palm Bussiness Center, Hudi Laran, 15 November, this Monday.
According to Cruz Ai, Ba Futuru has planted more than 2 million seeds of nature in four municipalities. Ai Ba Futuru has the main goal of 3 million seeds that are needed to grow.
“We have distributed seeds of local products composed of corns, soybean, peanut, cassava and sweet potato, Salak, Rambutan, and Vanilla to local agriculture to cultivate in their farm. This support to help people in the rural area to be able to have enough food to eat and can be sent some to market to get some revenue to improve the family economy,” he explained
Those local seeds are qualified by the Minister of Agriculture and Fishery through the Association of commercial Seeded Agriculture (ACSA).
It is known that 40 villages have been discussed for land participatory utilization based on village regulation to regulate the farmer to use the land for agro-forestry. The main objective of this project is to identify the proper land utilization for livestock, farming, and plants aggro-forestry.
GIZ has also supported four Agriculture technical schools in failure, Natarbora, Lakluta, and Latularai at the same time promoting the value chain to support youth training centers such as Dili, Baucau, and Lautem to help young people on local foods packages.
Ai Ba Futuru is in commitment to supporting young groups for carpentry to produce woods chair, tables, kitchen utensils, and furniture.
“Some young groups in Baucau cultivate banana and conjak. Some groups are focused on cooperative, loans, and open a business to improve the family economy,”
GIZ is supporting the community for the establishment of four Pre-processing Bambo Center in Mane-Haat Manatutu, Wagala Baucau, Luru Lospalos, and Mosuloisima Viqueque.
GIZ through Partnership Agro-forestry sustainable (AI BA FUTURE) offers an opportunity for 4 thousand of agriculture in Manaututo, Baucau, Viqueque, and Lautem to benefit the Agro-forestry sustainable program.
The total beneficiary of the direct output is 12.000 and in-direct beneficiaries are 8.000.
