DILI, 17 november 2021 (TATOLI) – The Information and Communication Technology Agency I.P. (TIC) signed a memorandum of understanding with the Timor-Leste’s National Health Laboratory (NHL) on Electronic Government.

The agreement would allow both parties to cooperate in creating NHL’s official website “Internet Protocol Address” (LNS.GOV.TL), official email, communication apps, and so on.

It would help NHL to improve its services in order to contribute to boosting the essential public health services in the country.

“This cooperation will enable NHL to better serve the communities both at the rural and national level,” the Executive Director of TIC, Roberto Caetano de Sousa Vicente told reporters after signing the agreement at NHL’s office, in Dili, today.

He said the cooperation would also help NHL to store all of its data and information in the Government data center managed by TIC: “The official email will boost the communication of all staff members of NHL.”

Vicente said TIC had made a significant contribution to saving the State’s money up to US$ 75 million of the unnecessary ICT cost.

“TIC had helped the government to save up US$75 million from spending the State’s money on unnecessary ICT costs. This agreement allows TIC to secure all important data and information, and facilitates NHL with having access to secure and updated applications developed by Timorese themselves,” he said.

At the same place, the Executive Director of NHL, Endang Soares Silva informed that creating the website and official media of NHL is a remarkable step for NHL to improve its services.

“Previously, some staff members used Gmail, while others preferred using Yahoo. But, from now and on, all staff members will use NHL’s official email,” Silva said.

TIC had been supported more than 48 public institutions with Information and communication technology (ICT) to improve e-governance in Timor-Leste.
