DILI, 10 december 2021 ( TATOLI)-The Ministry of Education Youth and Sport (MoEYS) has consulted with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO)’s representatives in Timor – Leste and Jakarta to integrate the “subject of history” into the curriculum of the Timor-Leste’s elementary school.

The Vice Minister of Education, Youth and Sports (MoYES), António Guterres said the purpose of incorporating the subject of history into the elementary school curriculum is to enhance children’s knowledge about the history of Timor-Leste.

“This will help children to have a sense of nationalism and patriotism to love our country and have the spirit to keep learning for Timor-Leste’s better future,” said Guterres.

At the same place, the Director of UNESCO Jakarta and the Representative in Timor – Leste, Mohamed Djelid said UNESCO is willing to work together with the MoEYS to elaborate the subject of history into the elementary school curriculum.
