SSCP supports 2,576 USD to seven families affected by Earthquake in Venilale

 DILI, 10 january 2022 (TATOLI)- The Secretary of State for Civil Protection (SSCP) is supported 2,576 USD for seven families affected by the earthquake in Venilale sub-district, Baucau municipality.

The Secretary of State for Civil Protection, Joaquim Gusmão Martins, revealed that the earthquake damaged seven houses and caused several landslides in the villages of Uailaha and Baduho’o, in Venilale, in the municipality of Baucau.

He said SSCP supports the financial of US $2,576 to seven families affected by the 7.4-magnitude earthquake that rocked Timor-Leste on the last day 30 December.

“We have provided emergency assistance in the form of food and building materials to the affected families. The total labor budget is US$368 per family,” Secretary of State for Civil Protection (SSCP), Joaquim Gusmão Martins, told Tatoli in Comoro.

Gusmão said that although the labor budget is insufficient to build new homes for the affected families, his office already has a new law, no 07/2021, which aims to increase the labor budget by a thousand dollars per family.

It should be remembered that an earthquake measuring 7.4 on the Richter scale shook the country at around 03:00 on 30 December and caused several landslides in the villages of Uailaha and Baduho’o.

It is known that heavy windy and raining have damaged 81 houses in Bucoli village and included a primary school, happen on last 22 december, 2021.
