PITL to address on 3rd cycle of basic education on climate change

DILI, 21 january 2021 (TATOLI) – Plan International Timor-Leste (PITL) will address on 3rd cycle of basic education for Civic Society Organization (CSO) with the purpose of increasing capacity to promote initiatives on Climate Change.

 

The Country Director of Plan International Timor-Leste, Dillyana Ximenes, emphasized the importance of training of trainers for INFORDEPE’s trainers so they can train the teachers in all regions and ensure the teachers have enough skills and practices to implement the new national curriculum on climate change education.

 

“The capacity program initiatives address climate change and impact on sustainable development in Timor-Leste,” The Country Director of Plan International Timor-Leste, Liliana Ximenes said in a press release accessed by TATOLI Agency, on this friday.

 

This program is provided to raise awareness on the impact of climate change. It is referring to the sustainable development in Timor-Leste.

 

The project will be implemented together with INFORDEPE. The aim is to involve the education sector to contribute for sustainable development.

 

It is to respond to the impacts of climate change in Timor-Leste. It will train the master trainers to insert the contents of climate change on the curriculum of the 3rd cycle of basic education.

 

On this occasion, the Ambassador of the European Union,  Andrew Jacobs states “I would like to encourage all the interested parties, particularly, the trainers that have completed their course on the impact of climate change”.

 

The school materials will be provided for the 3rd cycle of basic education in order they could provide the training to their colleagues.

 

“Thus, we are able to achieve the common objective to protect our planet, to the lives of all people” Jacob said.

 

The climate change adaptation project has been implemented by PITL and RAEBIA, supported by the European Union, and worked closely with the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport (MoEYS), the National Direction of Climate Change, and RAEBIA.

 

This program is funded by the European Union, Plan International. The project implementation is conducted by Training of Trainers (TOT). The contents of climate change will address the curriculum of the 3rh cycle of basic education.
