DILI, 08 february 2022 (TATOLI)- The National Parliament of Timor-Leste through plenary, this tuesday approved the vote of solidarity to Bernard Collaery.
This appreciation is offered on recognizing affords have been made by the Australian citizen during the period of Timor-Leste fight for independence.
“The result of solidarity vote for Bernard Collaery showed 50 against and 0 abstention,” The National Parliament of Timor-Leste, Deputy Aniceto Longuinhos Guterres Lopes, declares at plenary meeting in National Parliament.
The proponent deputy, José Agostinho Sequeira “ Somotxo” said the intention of PN offered solidarity is to respond for sacrifice that offered by the Bernard Collaery and some of Australia college in Timor-Leste.
He said, the sacrificed was offered since the II world war during the Australian people supported Timor-Leste. In 1975 Bernard and his Australian friends has established association in Australia to support Timor-Leste independence campaign.
The campaign is supported Timor-Leste people “MAUBERE’’ to fight against Indonesia occupation.
In 1989, The Australian minister of foreign of affairs and Indonesia signed agreement for Timor-Gap exploration “Timor-Leste Oil”. Bernard Collaery and his group sent a complaint to International Court, as it was illegally exploring Timor-Leste’s oil.
The accusation was referred to the illegal agreement was made between Indonesia and Australia.
Since Timor-Leste gained Independence, Bernard Collaery keeps fight for Timor-Leste Maritime border to discover spying to TL, regarding to Certain Maritime Arrangements in The Timor-Sea (CMATS) which has been negotiable Australia.
Thus, Deputy Somotxo said, this solidarity action is not interfered the process of justice, which is being processing against Bernard Collaery.
“In every country, there is no one can interfere for justice process. However, on the solidarity to offer the appreciation for sacrifice during the period,” He concluded.
