SSE evaluates on validation documents for NDCs on emissions on Gas Carbon and Climate change reduction in TL

DILI, 15 february 2022 (TATOLI)- Secretary of State for Environment (SSE) is evaluated on documents validation. It is provided to submit to the United Nations triple sea for Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) on Gas Carbon emissions and Climate change reduction in Timor-Leste.

Secretary of State for the Environment (SSE), Deométrio do Amaral de Carvalho said the NDCs embody efforts by each country to reduce national emissions and adapt to the impacts of climate change.

The objective of this workshop is to evaluate the validation of Timor-Leste’s document on National Determine contribution which will be submitted to the United Nations triples sea.

It is to review the ambition of country determination contribution, which has been done and even for what will do in the future to contribute to the reduction of climate change.

“It is to maintain the contribution on earth safeguarding in Timor-Leste. Especially to reduce the natural disasters which are affected by the inclusion of climate change.” The Secretary of State for Environment (SSE), Deométrio do Amaral de Carvalho told reports at Timor Plaza CBD 5, 15 february, this tuesday.

He added that it is to increase the resilience of Timor-Leste earth to the effect of climate change.

The Ambassador of the European Union, Andrew Jacobs said the alteration of climate change is one of the priority actions also contributed by the European Union. The EU has cooperated with all countries around the world and even included Timor-Leste.

The European Union is proud to support the NDC to represent Timor-Leste in reducing the gas carbon on the earth Timor-Leste in the coming days.

“Currently Timor-Leste is not supplying much gas carbon. However, the country is suffering from climate change,” He said

The EU has observed the devastation of the last April floods, which were affected by climate change.

It is required that all parties should work together to combat climate change action. The EU is standing on its commitment to keep supporting the Timor-Leste government for climate change reduction.

The European Union supports the implementation of the “RAI MATAK project” which can be contributed to Carbon farming agriculture, with the main purpose to reduce climate change in Timor-Leste.

Mr. Jacobs said the European Union provided financial support for the amount of two million of USD. The fund is devised to provide technical assistance and supporting Timor-Leste on juridical and legislation process for carbon farming development.

The EU considers that the law’s requirement must be focused on more development on carbon farming.

The EU also financed the NDC project to conclude Timor-Leste’s documents on reducing the emission of gas carbon.
