DILI, 25 february 2022 (TATOLI)- The Delegations from the European Union Election Observation Mission (EUEOM) have dispatched to 12 municipalities including RAEOA today.
Deputy Chief of Mission, Alexander Ian Gray, informed that there are 26 delegations from EUEOM) officially dispatched to 12 municipalities including RAEOA.
“We are going to the municipalities in across the Timor-Leste today to observe the Presidential Election from the beginning of the campaign, until the Presidential Election which will be held on 19 March 2022, to ensure a fair and transparent Presidential Election in accordance with the values of democratization in Timor-Leste,” Deputy Chief of Mission, Alexander Ian Gray told Tatoli at Hotel Timor, Colmera, Dili, today.
Deputy Chief of Mission Gray, explained that after arriving in the municipalities the EUEOM delegation team will meet with the National Electoral Commissioner (CNE) and the Head of the Electoral Administration Technical Secretariat (STAE) and related institutions in municipalities to cooperate in smoothing the Presidential Election in a transparent and honest manner based on the conscience of the electors.
“Before the Presidential campaign is started, we will meet with CNE, STAE and related Institutions to introduce the EUEOM mission in the municipality to adapt our work and also wishes to know with them in smoothing the Presidential Election which will take place on 19 march 2022,” Deputy Head of Mission added
At the same place, the representative of EUEOM, Carlos Guerreiro, appreciates the Government of Timor-Leste through the CNE and STAE who had invited EUEOM to conduct the direct political, judicial and economic observations on the 2022 Presidential Election in Timor – Leste.
“The EUEOM delegation consists of 26 persons, from 17 European countries who have experience election observers in various countries, and today we are dispatched to the municipalities to carry out an observer mission starting from today until the Presidential election on 19 march 2022,” Representative of EUEOM Carlos Guerreiro said.
EUEOM representative Carlos Guerreiro, added that each municipality consists of two observers; one woman and one man. The EUEOM delegation will stay in each municipality to conduct the observation of the Presidential Election process, starting from the campaign process until the Presidential Election on 19 march 2022 and after that will be concluded by writing reports and recommendations to the Government through the CNE and STAE.
