Second Round Presidential Election: STAE registers 312 more voters

DILI, 01 april 2022 (TATOLI) – The Director-General of the Technical Secretariat for Electoral Administration (STAE), Acilino Manuel Branco, revealed today that STAE registered another 312 new voters.

“The government will follow the printing procedures of the ballot papers as it did in the first round of the presidential election. However, the number of ballots will be increased as some citizens will turn 17 on the day of the second round of the presidential election”, said Branco.

Branco said that the National Press of Timor-Leste (INTL) started printing the ballot papers for the second-round presidential election, yesterday.

It is recalled that the government printed around 900.000 ballots papers for the first-round election on march 19.

“On april 12, INTL will hand over to STAE the ballot papers and other voting materials to be distributed to the national territory and overseas,” he said.

In the first round of the presidential election, STAE registered 859.613 eligible voters, of which 852.500 were registered nationally and 7.119 overseas.
