DNTT paints the zebra crossings in Dili

DILI, 07 april 2022 (TATOLI) – The Director of the National Department of Land Transportation (DNTT), António da Costa, said that, DNTT through the company of Hedge Construction Unipessoal Lda, has painted the zebra crossing in Dili.

“DNTT has opened a tender and the winner of the tender is the company of Hedge Construction Unipessoal Lda. The budget of this project is $ 772.045,03. They have been painting the roads in Dili for the duration of 3 months. They had worked at night time to prevent the traffic jams, said the Director of DNTT, when interviewed by the journalist of TATOLI News Agency in DNTT’s office Balide Dili, on wednesday.

The   roads which are painted by the company of Hedge Unipessoal Lda, are the zebra crossings, white line without break and dotted white Line.

Zebra crossings are marked with alternate black and white stripes on the road and zigzag lines on both sides. The zigzag lines warn drivers that there may be pedestrians crossing or waiting to cross the road. They also tell drivers that they must give way to pedestrians on the crossing. A yellow beacon, usually flashing, marks the location of the crossing.

The white line without breaking is usually in the middle of a bend or when in the middle of a bridge. The unbroken white line like this is intended for drivers not to overtake other vehicles. Riders are required to stay in their respective lanes.

Dotted white line is along the road, the dotted white line is usually located in the middle of the road. This line allows the driver to change lanes or overtake other vehicles while taking into account the conditions from the opposite direction.

DNTT trusts the company of hedge Unipessoal Lda, because the paint that is used has the high quality based on the specification items that DNTT requested.

“We hope that, by painting the Zebra Crossings, white line without break and dotted white line, in the capital of Dili will avoid the fatal accident in Timor – Leste,’’the Director of DNTT, António da Costa concluded.
