DILI, 11 may 2022 (TATOLI) – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation (MNEC), on tuesday, expressed condolences to the families and victims who lost their lives in a massive gas explosion in Cuba.
BBC reported that at least 26 people have died and more than 60 have been hospitalized after a massive explosion rocked one of Cuba’s most exclusive five-star hotels, known as Hotel Saratoga in Havana.
Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Adaljiza Albertina Xavier Reis Magno sent her sincere condolences to the Cuban Government and everyone affected by the explosions: “At this time of great difficulties, I am extending our heartfelt condolences to all the victims and their relatives in Cuba.”
It is believed a gas tanker that was parked outside the Saratoga Hotel in Old Havana ignited, causing an explosion that destroyed several floors of the building, BBC reported.
On friday afternoon, the Cuban Presidential Office tweeted the preliminary investigations indicated that the explosion at the five-star Hotel Saratoga in Old Havana was caused by a gas leak.
The hotel has 96 rooms, two bars, two restaurants, and a rooftop pool.
