MSSI allocates $1 million to social solidarity agencies

DILI, 12 may 2022 (TATOLI)—The government’s Ministry of Social Solidarity and Inclusion (MSSI), allocated $1 million to Social Solidarity Agencies for social protection activities.

MSSI Director-General, Rui Manuel Gago Exposto, said today, MSSI signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), with 29 Social Solidarity Agencies to support the MSSI program.

“The 2022 State Budget allocated to MSSI, prioritizes social protection, especially the protection of women, children, and other vulnerable groups that are included in the list of the social solidarity,” said Director General Rui Exposto at Kaikoli Dili, this thursday.

It was explained that the budget would be given to 29 social solidarity agencies that last year had received support from MSSI, intending to ensure all needs in carrying out activities that could help MSSI.

Meanwhile, MSSI Minister and Deputy Prime Minister, Armanda Berta dos Santos, explained that every year MSSI implements Cooperation with Social Solidarity Agencies, to support its program.

At the same place, the Director of the Association of Vision Impairment in Timor Leste (AHDMTL), Gaspar Afonso, informed that from the collaboration AHDMTL had received the funds of more than $44,000.

“The budget allocated this year has decreased compared to last year, wherein 2021 AHDMTL get more than $60 thousand,” said the Director of AHDMTL.
