DILI, 24 may 2022 (TATOLI) – The Ambassador of Timor – Leste to Cambodia, Hermenegildo Kupa said, during his two years in Cambodia he had been seeking to influence the several Cambodian International Companies to be invested in Timor – Leste.
“Cambodia is one of the ASEAN member countries and has carried out bilateral cooperation with Timor-Leste since Timor-Leste’s independence. I have fulfilled my mission as Ambassador of Timor-Leste to Cambodia, for the past two years, and tried to influence investors to invest in Timor-Leste,” Timor-Leste’s Ambassador to Cambodia, Hermenegildo Kupa told TATOLI at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Office and Cooperation (MoFAC, at Pantai Kelapa, Dili, this Tuesday.
The Ambassador added that Cambodia wishes to invest in various sectors in Timor-Leste.
“They are interested to invest in the tourism sector, oil sector, agriculture sector, economic sector, and other related sectors in Timor – Leste but to achieve this, there must be an official agreement made by the Government of Timor – Leste and the Cambodian,” he said.
Kupa emphasized that the Cambodian Government is also committed to supporting Timor-Leste to become a member of ASEAN and a member of the World Trade Organization (WTO) by saying that with this strategy imports and exports of goods will be very affordable and the cyclical economy will be stable to advance Timor-Leste in a sustainable future,”
“I will report all my work programs that have been achieved in Cambodia to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and discuss with the Minister about all these investment plans, to bring this matter to the Council of Ministers, to prepare good strategies and conditions to receive these investments from Cambodia,”
“If the program is implemented, we will be able to reduce unemployment, and Timor-Leste’s economy will grow in the future,” Hermenegildo Kupa, concluded.
